Our 4th annual community altar will be created by Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture Without Borders. Visitors are invited to view our two-day altar at the Flatiron North Plaza.

Papel Picado Brightens our Public Spaces
We’re enlivening the Flatiron South Plaza with a vibrant papel picado installation by Los Angeles-based artist and designer Tanya Aguiñiga.

Outdoor Photo Exhibit: Noche de Ánimas
In partnership with Festival Tragaluz, Funkelin, and Photoville, view our free outdoor photo exhibit, Noche de Ánimas, documenting the rituals of Michoacán’s Pátzcuaro riverbank, during Día de Muertos season on the Flatiron South Plaza.

What is Día de Muertos?
Día de Muertos is a Mexican tradition of pre-Hispanic origin that celebrates the memory and presence of the deceased. According to popular belief, from October 31 – November 2 the souls return home to be with their loved ones. Altars are assembled with offerings, food, and rituals to celebrate their visit.

Where will the Día de Muertos outdoor art installations take place?
Our Día de Muertos activations will take place at various locations throughout the neighborhood, including Flatiron North Plaza (23rd Street & Broadway) and Flatiron South Plaza (23rd Street, Fifth Avenue & Broadway).

No, all Día de Muertos activations in Flatiron & NoMad are free.

We are the Flatiron NoMad Partnership, your local Business Improvement District. Think of us as a hyperlocal chamber of commerce meets parks department meets neighborhood cheerleaders.
