For over twenty years now, I have led a band with Ben Monder on guitar and Joe Martin on bass. This band has always felt like home base for me. It was featured on my first recording and it’s been my main outlet for writing music. A few months ago, we started playing more regularly again, with Nasheet Waits on drums, and I wrote a new repertoire of original music. The four of us recently recorded an album to come out later this year on Analog Tone Factory, and we are excited to present this music at the Jazz Gallery!

Saxophonist and composer Jerome Sabbagh was born in Paris in 1973 and has been living in Brooklyn since 1995. A prolific forward-thinking composer, as well as a musician with a deep connection to the well of the jazz tradition, he has recorded eleven albums as a leader, and was one of Paul Motian’s last saxophone players.

Jerome Sabbagh’s latest recordings are “Vintage”, an album of original compositions and standards which features legendary pianist and NEA jazz master Kenny Barron in intimate duets, as well as in a quartet setting with Joe Martin and Johnathan Blake, and “Heart”, a trio record with Joe Martin and Al Foster.
