Sam Towse is a jazz pianist and composer based in New York City. Beginning his musical studies at age 2, Sam has continued mastering his craft under some of New York City’s finest teachers and has been rostered on some of the most exclusive festivals in the jazz community. A two time graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Sam studied under teachers Phil Markowitz, Marc Cary, and John Riley where he has been recognized by regional, state, and national programs, including Young Arts, NAMM, ASCAP, and The Grammy Foundation. Sam has had the privilege to share the stage with some of the world’s finest musicians, included Marc Cary, Miguel Zenon, Marquis Hill, John Ellis, and Jonathan Finlayson to name a few.
human music is Sam’s fusion group, born from his love of fusion groups from the late 60s and 70s. This project emphasizes exploration through simplicity; and focuses on group improvisation and the creation of atmospheric soundscapes. Described as “genre-defying” their music is a blend of ambient, electronic, and experimental influences, creating immersive auditory experiences that push the boundaries of traditional composition.
