This special performance celebrates National Tap Dance Day, honoring the birthday of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson on May 25. Robinson was one of the most influential figures in the history of tap dance, known for bringing the art form to a broader stage and elevating it with elegance, musicality, and innovation. Tap Dance Day was officially recognized in the United States in 1989, thanks in large part to the efforts of Gregory Hines, acknowledging tap as a vital part of American cultural heritage.

Our show celebrates that legacy with tap dancers from New York City and Chicago—two cities deeply rooted in the evolution of tap. Joined by a live jazz band, the performance highlights the deep history and shared improvisational spirit of tap and jazz.
