MoMath: Family Fridays — Build a Hat Tiling
6/21
6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
225 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010
You may have heard about the newest discovery in mathematics: the Hat tile. Now be part of history in the making by assembling a giant Hat Tile Floor at MoMath! Will it be a world record? The group construction will be led by MoMath’s Outreach Mathematician, Chaim Goodman-Strauss, one of the team members that brought the Hat, the first “aperiodic monotile,” to the world. This shape can be fit together to cover a never-ending surface – but only in a way that will never exactly repeat!
Family Fridays is designed to bring family members of all ages together to enjoy a diverse array of engaging mathematical activities, promoting interest and enthusiasm among kids and adults alike.
Thanks to the generous support of Two Sigma, this program is free to attendees.
