New Neighbor: BRASS
We’re excited to welcome BRASS, the new restaurant within the historic Evelyn Hotel to the neighborhood. Located at 7 East 27th Street in NoMad, BRASS is sister to The Tusk Bar and pays homage to the iconic grand dining rooms of New York City and the style of French brasseries.
“Without a doubt, NoMad was the only setting for this project, with the balance we envisioned of downtown New York energy and classic uptown Manhattan glamour,” says Owner and Restauranteur Nick Hatsatouris. “What really spoke to me when we looked at the incredible historic spaces in the Evelyn Hotel was not only the hotel’s history (built in 1903), but also the proximity to Tin Pan Alley, which epitomizes the energy and resilience of the city. I loved the opportunity to bring new life to the building’s roots and respect the Beaux Arts elements of the spaces that have remained in tact, which is something we really wanted to highlight in both The Tusk Bar and Brass. Beyond being stunning historic spaces, the neighborhood is centrally located in such a perfect way that its easy for New Yorkers and visitors alike, whether during a special night out on the town or to come back to again and again.”
Upon entering BRASS, guests are welcomed into an elegant, grand dining room that features Art Deco and Beaux Arts details of the turn-of-the-century Evelyn Hotel. Designed by Islyn Studios, highlights of the interior include modernist frescoes hand-painted by California-based artist Jessalyn Brooks and an antique piano complimented by the original tile flooring and oversized skylight in the space. To begin your evening, order a cocktail from a curated list by Bar Director Tristan Brunel, such as the Brass Martini made with Tanqueray 10 gin, empirical symphony, blanc vermouth, vin jaune, and vétiver. Or, try the seasonal Autumn Leaves featuring Neversink gin, spiced pear, apricot, apple aperitif, apple blossom, and cardamom. A selection of wine and beer is also available.
Diners can enjoy a unique menu that combines tradition and creativity from Chef Partners Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske Valtierra. Start your meal with an hors d’oeuvre like the Moules Frites, marinated mussels with chickpea frites or a Crab & Maitake Tartlet with black truffle and scarlet crab. Notable entrees include the Montauk Ruby Red Prawn Tartare with fried garlic, yuzu kosho, and crispy potato and the Golden Chicken Roulade for Two. Save room for dessert and indulge in a Banana Spliterole.
Join BRASS for your next date night or evening out with friends! Reserve your table.
BRASS is open Monday – Saturday from 5 – 11 pm.
