Portal in New York City is located on the Flatiron South Plaza at Broadway, Fifth Avenue, and 23rd Street. Portal in Dublin, Ireland is located on the capital’s main street, O’Connell Street.

What are the viewing hours of Portal?
Portal will be unveiled on Wednesday, May 8th and will be on view 24 hours a day on the Flatiron South Plaza.

Portal will be on view for 6 months, from Spring 2024 – Fall 2024.

Portal does not have audio capabilities. You won’t be able to hear people through the Portal.

Who is bringing this art installation here?
Portal is presented by the Flatiron NoMad Partnership and in collaboration with the NYC Department of Transportation’s Art Program (NYC DOT Art) and the Simons Foundation. Portal is founded by Lithuanian artist and entrepreneur Benediktas Gylys.
about portal: where new york city meets dublin, ireland
Portal was founded by Lithuanian artist and entrepreneur Benediktas Gylys as an invitation to interact and foster human connection around the world. This one-of-a-kind interactive, global art installation gives people the opportunity to experience New York City and Dublin, Ireland in real-time.
Portal will make its North American debut on the Flatiron South Plaza, next to the famed Flatiron Building at the dynamic intersection of Broadway, Fifth Avenue, and 23rd Street. In Dublin, Portal will be installed facing the capital’s main street, O’Connell Street and will capture the iconic vista of both Dublin’s famous GPO building and the Spire together.
Portal will be connected between New York City and Dublin, Ireland for 6 months, from spring 2024 through the fall of the same year. Flatiron NoMad Partnership will host public programming surrounding Portal, including an event to celebrate the NYCxDESIGN Festival this May.
