The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad in partnership with the Tin Pan Alley American Popular Music Project is hosting a free, outdoor public music series starting on Thursday, August 17th!
Taking place on Thursdays in August from 4 – 6 pm, the free, public music performances will celebrate the community and the historic street that the hotel is situated on “Tin Pan Alley.”
Thursday, August 17th, 4 – 6 pm
Vocalist Ilana Meredith with Piano and Accordion Accompanist Joe Rutkowski, and Historian Jim Mackin. Hear and learn more about the cultural history of Tin Pan Alley and composers such as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Kurt Weill while enjoying some of the popular music that has captured hearts and imaginations worldwide over more than one hundred years.
Thursday, August 24th, 4 – 6 pm
Miss Maybell & Charlie Judkins’ historic take on music is more than just for looks. Charlie Judkins’ ragtime piano work plays well with Miss Maybell’s Flapper-era vocals and unconventional instruments including a washboard and even a kazoo. Judkins is also an historian of the Tin Pan Alley era and will offer insights throughout the program.
