Boomtown is the ninth album of original compositions from Miles Okazaki, and his fourth Album as a leader for Pi Recordings. This album reflects a broad shift in Okazaki’s practice. It is comprised of large ensembles and an expansive sound, a group cast with intentionally different voices on the same instruments to further explore the album’s sense of opposing energies.
The album took form after a 2024 road trip Okazaki took through Wyoming. It explores large-scale narratives and continues themes from Okazaki’s 2024 project Miniature America.
