It's NYC Textile Month and Shop @ The Jewelry Library is open through September 29th with textile-based jewelry and wearable art by contemporary and vintage makers. The Shop features multi-sensory works by inclusive textile designer and educator Sugandha Gupta, statement necklaces by visual artist Debra Rapoport, hand-crafted zero-waste accessories by designer Martina Dietrich, objects and jewelry by Kyrgyz textile artists Chinara Niyazova and Munara Abdukakharova, along with colorful beaded fabric jewelry by Nesftaly Gomez and metalsmith Jina Seo's enamel and fiber brooches and earrings and much more! Vintage standouts include a 1970s collection of Alex and Lee’s exquisite passementerie necklaces and belts, and surrealist inspired velvet and felt jewelry by Moschino.
Join us on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons for conversations, tea and shopping!
Tuesday 9/19 at 4pm, Jewelry designer, curator and educator Charon Kransen will talk about the history of textile jewelry from the 1970's to today
Wednesday 9/20 at 5pm, artists Debra Rapoport and Martina Deitrich will talk about upcycling and zero waste fashion followed by a workshop where participants will learn how to transform discarded textiles into fashionable treasures.

Tuesday, 9/26 at 5pm, textile artist and designer Sugandha Gupta will talk about her creative process, sources of inspiration, and the complexities of her intersectionality as a woman of color without color, a person with a disability, and an immigrant, sharing how these experiences inform her work and practice.
Wednesday 9/27 at 4pm, artist Nesftaly Gomez shows us her latest work and the inspiration behind her bold, colorful textile earrings!
