Artist Noah Barker will introduce a screening of “Chase Manhattan” (2021-2022, 10 min) by Barker & Dora Budor, presented as part of The Right to the City: Public Space on Film Program 4: The Real Estate State.
Chase Manhattan is an urban dérive-meets-car chase. The film follows a dump truck through the city as it hauls material from the demolition site of the Union Carbide building, a modernist skyscraper that formerly stood at 270 Park Avenue—and the largest building ever to be voluntarily demolished—in order to make way for the newer, taller, JPMorgan Chase Tower on the same site.
Noah Barker is an artist based in New York. Barker and Dora Budor have shown collaborative video works at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria; Fluentum, Berlin; Simian, Copenhagen; The Wig, Berlin; and Etablissement d’en face, Brussels.
