The Ralph Alessi quartet will perform new works and selections from the most recent ECM release, It’s Always Now….Ralph Alessi is a trumpet player/composer who splits his time between Brooklyn, NY and Bern, Switzerland where he teaches at HKB. Over his career he has played and recorded with the likes of Fred Hersch, Steve Coleman, Ravi Coltrane, Jason Moran, Sam Rivers, Tim Berne, Uri Caine and many others. Currently, Ralph records for the ECM record label and recently released his 4th record on the label, “It’s Always Now.” As an educator, he has taught at the Eastman School of Music, NYU and University of Nevada-Reno. Since 2001, he has been the founder/director of the School for Improvisational Music, an international workshop series that takes place in Brooklyn (www.schoolforimprov.org). “Alessi is an individualist, with a style and sound all his own” Downbeat Magazine
