Bun Mee, 115 East 23rd Street, @bunmee
Bune Mee, the San Francisco destination for bánh mì has made its East Coast debut in Flatiron. Founded by Denise Tran who moved from Vietnam to the US as a young child, she opened Bun Mee to celebrate the vibrant flavors and culture of her Vietnamese heritage and to spotlight bánh mì among American fast casual dining options. “The Flatiron and NoMad areas are some of the city’s most exciting neighborhoods, and we hope Bun Mee can offer something unique to everyone here, from the students to the office workers: a bánh mì made with care, quickly, every day,” says John McClave and Nam Haong, Proprietors of Bun Mee New York. “We’re excited to become part of the community.” Combining influence from Vietnamese street food with its own creative interpretations, Bun Mee offers delicious dishes in a welcoming ambiance featuring décor that draws on the street culture from Saigon.
On the menu guests can choose from made-to-order bánh mì sandwiches, appetizers, pho, rice bowls, salads, sides, and specialty beverages. To start, order the Shrimp Salad Rolls served with peanut sauce and the Salt & Pepper Garlic Fries with jalapeños. Two Cookies, 333 Park Avenue South, @twocookiesnyc
Two Cookies has opened its newest location in the neighborhood. Founded less than a year ago by Max Gold and Daniela Barrientos, Two Cookies is an independent New York City cookie brand. “We created Two Cookies to bring small moments of joy into people’s everyday lives, and Flatiron and NoMad feels like such a natural home for that,” says Co-Founder Daniela Barrientos. “The neighborhood has a beautiful energy, and we’re excited for our Park Avenue window to become a warm, familiar part of people’s days.” Two Cookies was born out of Max’s desire to create a distinct chocolate chip cookie that he couldn’t find, and Daniela’s want to establish a joyful experience people could look forward to and turn into a tradition within local communities.
The Flatiron & NoMad location is the brand’s third storefront, following additional locations in Soho and the East Village. Each Two Cookies features a walk-up window as a central part of the brand’s experience. Most popular is their small-batch signature chocolate chip cookie, made with high-quality ingredients, including European butter, hand-chopped Belgian chocolate, free-range eggs, and no preservatives. The chocolate chip cookies can be best paired with award-winning Arethusa Farm whole milk. Customers can place their pre-orders online before heading to the nostalgic pick-up window, where their orders will be waiting. Highlights from the menu include The Signature Set – 2 Chocolate Chip Cookies, The Classic Combo – 1 Chocolate Chip and 1 Sugar Cookie, and larger orders great for sharing with friends and family. Two Cookies also offers Pet Cookies for furry companions. Pre-order from Two Cookies and enjoy a little local happiness in your everyday moments! Two Cookies is open daily for pick-ups.
