Several exciting new businesses have recently opened in the neighborhood. This roundup features a variety of new neighbors, from an all-day Mediterranean restaurant to a fast casual salad spot from Australia. Stay in the know with the latest New Neighbors in Flatiron & NoMad.

The all-day, wood-fired Mediterranean restaurant Mama Mezze is now open in NoMad. Founded by restaurateur Mark Barak from La Pecora Bianca, Mama Mezze offers flavorful plates by chef collaborator and James Beard Award Finalist Einat Admony of Taïm, Balaboosta and Moondog HiFi. Guests can enjoy seating in the sunlit dining room designed by Home Studios featuring lush greenery as well as outdoors on the patio. The menu features curated dishes from from around the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
To begin, order a couple of spreads such as the Whipped Feta and Mushroom Hummus served with house-made za’atar bread. For an entrée, enjoy an array of salads, sandwiches, large plate, and skewers. Try the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich served with za’atar fries. For a seafood dish, order the wood-fired Honey-Harissa Jumbo Shrimp Skewers accompanied by roasted vegetables or savor the Branzino. Pair your meal with a signature cocktail such as the refreshing Levantine Spritz made with tequila, cachaça, orange, grapefruit, and rosé champagne. Tenjou is a new Japanese restaurant in Flatiron that serves up delicious eats from ramen to omurice. Guests can enjoy a warm and inviting atmosphere for lunch or dinner. The menu features an array of classic Japanese cuisine and specialty dishes. Start off with artfully crafted sushi such as the Fifth Avenue Specialty Roll made with salmon, tuna, and yellowtail or the Ocean’s Bounty Signature Roll. Choose from over a dozen flavorful appetizers such as the Agedashi Tofu and Pan-Fried Gyoza or order a Yakitori Platter, featuring Japanese skewers made with a range of seasoned proteins and vegetables. For an entrée, savor a comforting bowl of Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen featuring house-made pork broth. Rice dishes include Omurice, a rice omelette made with onion, chicken and mushrooms or Teriyaki Chicken accompanied by shishito peppers, green onion, and sesame seeds.

Established in 2016 in Bondi Beach, Sydney, THISBOWL landed in the U.S. in 2024 and has now opened their second New York City location here in NoMad. The Australian fast-casual restaurant is led by founders Nic Pestalozzi, Nathan Dalah, and Casper Ettelson. THISBOWL reflects the founders’ distinct personalities and their shared interests in design, music and culture. “It’s been an amazing start so far, we’re loving the new (and even familiar) faces who no longer have to travel as far,” says Nic. “The store has been super busy and we’re stoked with how it’s been received. What better place to enjoy a bowl than Madison Square Park!”
The menu features a range of healthy and delicious bowls. Try one of the nine House Favorite bowls or create your own bowl with your base of choice from sushi rice, brown rice, shredded cabbage or mixed leaves. Order the NoMad’s Way made with roasted chicken or braised beef, white cabbage, carrot, radish, scallions, carrot ginger, topped with wasabi mayo drizzle and candied cashews. For a seafood option, enjoy the Lime Chili Crudo with salmon sashimi, purple cabbage, cucumber, radish, red onion, cilantro, lime chili vinaigrette, wasabi mayo drizzle, and a spiced scallion crunch. The French-inspired restaurant Saint Urban has relocated from Syracuse to Flatiron. Guests can enjoy an ever-changing menu inspired by local ingredients paired alongside fine wines from around the world. Designed by Bentel & Bentel, the restaurant reflects the environment of vineyards, including earth tones throughout the walls, light fixtures, and seating. Each month Saint Urban focuses on one of the twelve iconic wine regions and creates a curated menu to showcase the unique culinary and wine traditions. Guests can choose between a four-course prix fixe menu and a seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings available for dinner.
This June, Saint Urban is exploring the wines and flavors of Spain. Begin with an appetizer such as the Ajo Blanco, a chilled soup featuring green almonds, smoked eel, and mojama. For a choice of fish, try the Fidelos Mariscos accompanied by peppers and saffron and for a meat dish, enjoy the Roast & Braised Lamb with red wine, olives, and apricots. Round out your meal with a selection of cheeses and dessert including the Basque Cheesecake with cherries and chamomile. Choose from an extensive wine list or enjoy a variety of wine pairing options.
