New Neighbor Roundup: Aqua New York, Clemente Bar, & The Malin NoMad

Several exciting new businesses have recently opened in the neighborhood. This roundup features a variety of new neighbors for your next go-to spots, from a new co-working space to a cocktail bar above Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park. Aqua New York offers Japanese and Italian cuisines served side by side in a contemporary space. The new restaurant has two separate kitchens and menus, Aqua Kyoto and Aqua Roma which both reflect a shared culinary philosophy: using the freshest ingredients and prepared with passion in order to let natural flavors shine. “Aqua is very excited to be surrounded by the energy and creativity of Flatiron & NoMad—neighborhoods that are at the heart of New York’s incredible food scene,” says the Aqua New York Team. “We look forward to everything it has to offer.” Begin your meal with a Signature Platter to share from Aqua Kyoto such as Omakase Sashimi or Omakase Sushi. Or, try Crystal Sushi, topped with hand-crafted crystal jellies infused with flavors such as sake and rose or yuzu ponzu dashi. If you’re in the mood for Italian, start off with a Wild Mushroom Arancini or Beef Tartare from Aqua Roma. Some large dishes include, Yuzu Shiso Marinated Lamb, Wagyu Fried Rice, Mafalde – a slow-cooked oxtail ragu, and Ippoglosso – a pan-fried halibut filet. Pair your meal with a cocktail from the uniquely designed in-house bar Aqua Spirit led by creative mixologists. Try a Negroni Blanco made with Fords Gin, Luxardo Bitter, and Cocchi. Situated above Michelin-starred plant-based restaurant Eleven Madison Park, Clemente Bar is an intimate cocktail bar and chef’s tasting counter from friends Chef Daniel Humm and artist Francesco Clemente. Upon entering the space designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works, guests can admire one-of-a-kind art by Clemente along with curated vintage pieces throughout. The beverage program is led by Sebastian Tollius and offers a range of cocktails of varying flavor profiles that pair with innovative dishes. Bar bites can be enjoyed in The Lounge or you can savor a 90-minute, five-course tasting experience at The Studio‘s chef’s counter. If at The Lounge, order a Clemente Martini made with Altamura Vodka, Malfy Gin, green curry, and saffron or a Harvest Highball featuring Toki Japanese whisky, pale cream, coffee & pistachio, and Tonka. Wines, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Complement your drink with a couple small plates such as the Pepper Toast with roasted focaccia, coriander, and Calabrian chili and the Avocado Inari Pockets with sticky rice, finger lime, and shiso.
