New Neighbor: Tokugawa Sushi
We’re pleased to welcome Tokugawa Sushi to the neighborhood. Located at 287 Park Avenue South, this is Tokugawa’s second location in New York City. The sushi concept is led by Serafina Restaurant Group in collaboration with acclaimed Sushi Chef Kazuo Yoshida. Inspired by the legacy of the Japanese Emperor Tokugawa, Chef Kazuo offers creative, high-quality sushi & omakase
“We are so excited to bring Tokugawa, and our passion for great Japanese cuisine, to the Flatiron & NoMad neighborhood!” says Fabio Granato, Co-Founder of Serafina Restaurant Group. “This neighborhood is so vibrant, with more people coming here every day to live, work, dine, and shop – we are happy to be a part of this growing community.”
Upon entering Tokugawa, guests are met with a welcoming ambiance and can enjoy the 10-seat sushi bar or 30-seat cozy dining room. Some unique design elements of the space include a large golden-scaled fish as the centerpiece behind the sushi bar counter and a large ceiling fixture with Tokugawa’s logo that overlooks the dining room, closely resembling the underside of a lily pad and inspired by the restaurant’s namesake Shogun family crest.
Originally from Nagasaki, Japan, Chef Kazuo has worked at several prestigious Japanese establishments, including Kameda, Jewel Bako, and 1 OR 8 before opening his acclaimed sushi restaurant, Juku, in Chinatown. Chef Kazuo’s approach at Tokugawa is to offer guests a curated yet simplified omakase experience in a welcoming and fun environment. The counter omakase is casual but intimate with ten meticulously crafted courses, with ingredients sourced directly from Japan. A curated three-course omakase menu for larger parties is also available. With this unique offering, guests can enjoy a variety of signature Tokugawa hot dishes such as Angus Beef with chaliapin sauce, Tokugawa Shrimp, crispy shrimp wrapped in potato noodles, and more.
Pair your meal with a glass of sake from Tokugawa’s extensive menu. Try a glass of Masumi Shiro, a Ginjo sake with aromatic, fruity notes and a smooth texture or ILE Four Yuzu Sake, which comes from Nagano and is made from the oldest grove of fresh yuzu. A selection of beers and wines are also available.
Join Tokugawa Sushi for an elevated and fun dining experience!
