New Neighbor: Hole in the Wall
The Flatiron Partnership is thrilled to welcome Hole in the Wall to the neighborhood at 37 West 24th Street on the ground floor of Hotel Henri. The popular Australian restaurant and café, which first opened as a small coffee shop in 2014, now has three locations in NYC with Flatiron joining Financial District and Murray Hill. At Hole in the Wall, guests will enjoy chill vibes, food that looks as good as it tastes, and inventive cocktails.
“Flatiron is the heart of NYC. It’s a creative neighborhood flourishing with locals and tourists alike. We are excited to bring our Aussie culture into the hub of the city,” said owner and CEO of Parched Hospitality Group, Barry Dry.
While Hole in the Wall touts a casual, laid back setting, guests can expect elevated, beautifully plated dishes. The restaurant’s Executive Chef Brent Hudson brings his fine-dining cooking approach to approachable, filling entrees. Crowd favorites include his OG Burger with grilled Wagyu beef, double smoked bacon, miso onions, pickles, and aged Amish cheddar on a milk bun, the Shrimp Pappardelle with crab, shaved garlic, Calabrian chili, lemon, fried parsley and parmesan, and the Glazed Crispy Tofu with kimchi, ginger scallion relish, and furikake seasoning. On the decadent side, Hudson’s Triple Chocolate Brownie with caramel ice cream and butterscotch will satisfy any dessert craving. Full dinner menu.
Aussies are well known for their appreciation and execution of brunch and Hole in the Wall does not disappoint. Their daily brunch offerings include a variety of coffees and toasts. You have your pick of Chili Scrambled Eggs described to have “the perfect level of spiciness”, Pulled Pork Benedict made with 12-hour slow-braised pork, Avocado Toast topped with truffle feta, and a Nutella Espresso featuring banana, peanut butter, espresso, and oat milk.
The beverage directors at Hole in the Wall, Gates Otsuji and Jeremy Ortiz, are the duo behind Controlled Substances, a beverage consulting group behind some of NYC’s most engaging cocktail programs. They believe in creative, innovative, and fun drink concoctions. Otsuji and Ortiz created a signature cocktail list that includes the Summer Smash with Lychee Black Tea Bourbon, Amaro Nonino, honey, and peaches, the Red Lantern with Aperol, Tequila, Vermouth, lime juice, red peppers, and Thai spice bitters, and a refreshing spiked Frozen Sandia Lemonade.
