Flatiron Fitness Series Returns Next Wednesday

Work out with us! Enjoy eight weeks of free outdoor fitness classes led by local Flatiron & NoMad studios beginning next week on June 21.

Wednesday evening classes will be held on the Flatiron South Public Plaza at 6 pm as part of our summer event series.

Salsa & Art Nights

Part of our Flatiron NoMad Summer Series, join us for four weeks of Salsa & Art Nights! Dance to live salsa music from the Benny Lopez Latin Jazz Ensemble on the Flatiron North Public Plaza.

While you’re there, experience “The Small Box,” an experiential public art activation presented by School of Visual Arts, Continuing Education (SVACE). Attendees have the opportunity to write on the piece, in chalk, their own answer to a question posed by SVA professor and artist Stephen Gaffney.

Honoring Juneteenth

This Monday, June 19th, we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans in 1865.

In honor of Juneteenth, we’ve compiled a list of ways to celebrate Juneteenth, through the support of Black-owned businesses, resources and organizations, and notable neighborhood events in Black history, including the Silent Protest of 1917 in Madison Square.

Evolution of the Pride Parade Route

This year’s annual Pride March will take place on Sunday, June 25th, starting at noon.

In honor of the event’s various routes, we’re highlighting the parade’s notable paths in Manhattan, from its initial launch in Greenwich Village on June 28, 1970 to the present kick-off location in the Flatiron District at 25th Street and Fifth Avenue.

  • Promotion for New Film: Wednesday, June 14th – Friday, June 16th from 8 am – 8 pm daily on the Flatiron North Plaza.
  • Elemis: Saturday, June 17th – Sunday, June 18th from 10 am – 6 pm daily on the Flatiron North Plaza.
  • Film Shoot: Saturday, June 17th – Sunday, June 18th from 5 am – 3 pm on Fifth Avenue from 23rd to 17th Street.

 

Street Closures

  • East 29th Street between Lexington Avenue and Park Avenue will be closed from 7 am – 5 pm on Saturday, June 17th and Sunday, June 18th to facilitate crane operation.
  • Third Avenue between 23rd Street and 34th Street will be closed on Sunday, June 18th for the New York City Expo.
