Position Title: Portal Seasonal Ambassador
Reporting To: Program and Events Manager
Position Overview
The Flatiron NoMad Partnership, who launched Portal, the latest technological art sculpture that currently connects New York City and Dublin, Ireland through a visual livestream, is looking for a part-time ambassador. This role is in the Flatiron District of New York City. Hours will be between 10AM-3PM throughout the summer season. Days are subject to change and flexibility is needed.
The Role
The Portal Ambassador is a dynamic, interactive and engaging role within the Flatiron NoMad Partership with a specific focus on the guest experience and how the public relates to the Portal experience. This role is fully on-site and will be leading the guest experience with the public visiting Portal. A successful applicant will be comfortable working outside in all types of weather and value guest experience. Ideal applicants have an interest in hospitality, experience-driven initiatives, and public spaces. This position reports to the Program and Events Manager for the Partnership. Responsibilities to include:
On-Site Visitor Guest-Experience
- Welcome and greet guests with enthusiasm and warmth.
- Engage with visitors in an easy and enthusiastic manner to raise brand awareness.
- Monitor crowd behavior and handle any unforeseen situations with professionalism and poise, ensuring the safety and well-being of visitors.
- Interface directly with Flatiron NoMad Partnership staff, Portals.org staff, and Dublin ambassadors while on-site.
- Support and assist in the curation of planned programs and activations at the Portal.
- Provide event recaps which includes estimation of # of guests and any incidents experienced.
Preferred Skills
- Must be 21+ to apply
- Previous promotional experience is required
- Ability to be a team player and adaptable in any changing environment
- Ability to work the entire event schedule including training
- Availability during weekends, holidays and during the week as needed
- Must have access to Whatsapp
- Is extremely reliable with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a friendly and approachable attitude
- Strong public speaking abilities to effectively communicate to diverse audiences
- Ability to self-manage and self-motivate while remaining a team player
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time outdoors
- Interest in executing hands-on, public-facing events
- Ability to work outdoors and be exposed to various weather conditions for extended periods of time
Pay Range
Pay rate is $25/hour and an end-of-season bonus will be provided when the season is complete. This is a part-time hourly position, approximately 10-25 hours per week.
