Pen + Brush is pleased to host a long-running Tuesday night writer’s group consisting of 6 incredibly talented writers! Come join us to hear these fabulous writers and get a glimpse of the pleasure we get every week when we share work with each other. We will be at the fabulous gallery, Pen + Brush on 22nd Street near Broadway.
Featuring: Jennifer Berman is a writer and sign language interpreter. Her essays and humor pieces have appeared in the New York Times, The Morning News, Glassworks magazine, and other publications. She is currently working on a memoir.
Louise Crawford is a writer, blogger, literary publicist, and social media expert. She is the founder of Brooklyn Social Media, where she helps authors publicize their books. Her blog, Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn, was a seminal hyperlocal blog. Smartmom, her weekly humor column, was published in The Brooklyn Paper from 2005-2010. She is a writer of fiction and poetry and is the recipient of grants from the NEA, New York Council for the Humanities, and the Brooklyn Arts Council.
Blair Fell is the author of the debut novel The Sign For Home, as well as numerous plays and some TV writing. His work has also appeared in the Huffington Post, Daily News, Out Magazine and various other websites and journals.
Marian Fontana is a writer and playwright. Her work has appeared in Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, People Magazine, O Magazine and more. Her memoir A Widows Walk was published by Simon and Schuster and her play Falling Short premiered at 59 E 59th Summer Short Festival. She is currently working on a novel.
Prior to shifting his focus to writing, Kent Shell was a visual artist. His written and visual work has appeared at MoMA PS1, Artforum, McSweeneys and other spaces and publications. Recently the recipient of the Frederick E. Hart Scholarship for Excellence in Nonfiction at the Leopardi Writers Conference in Recanati, Italy, he is currently working on a memoir.
Aaron Zimmerman is Founder and Executive Director of NY Writers Coalition, one of the largest community writing programs in the country. He’s the author of the novel By the Time You Finish This Book You Might be Dead, and his fiction, poetry, and nonfiction has appeared in numerous journals and publications.
