Bayes’ Theorem: Looking for Gold in all the Right Places
Presentations at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm (in person)
How do you find a sunken treasure ship using science? With Bayes’ Theorem! Join Allen Butler, former President and CEO of Daniel H. Wagner Associates and Treasurer of the MAA, to learn how this seemingly simple formula helped locate and recover the “Ship of Gold”— the SS Central America, lost in a hurricane off the Carolina coast in 1857. Experience the fascinating math, plus a special introduction by Laurence Penn, Founding Partner and Vice Chairman of Ellington Management Group. Light refreshments will be served.
