Carnegie Hall Citywide at Madison Square Park: Ekep Nkwelle
7/24
6:00 pm – 7:15 pm
This July, in conjunction with Rose B. Simpson’s exhibition Seed, Carnegie Hall plans a stunning range of free outdoor concerts on the Oval Lawn of Madison Square Park as musicians take the stage. Join us for an evening performance by Ekep Nkwelle, a rising-star vocalist on the New York City jazz scene.
Nkwelle has worked with artists ranging from veterans such as Russell Malone, Cyrus Chestnut, and Kenny Washington to a new generation of first-call musicians including Emmet Cohen and Endea Owens. She’s been featured at the Newport and DC Jazz Festivals, performed at The Library of Congress and The Kennedy Center, and now—courtesy of Carnegie Hall Citywide—she leads a free performance in Madison Square Park. Hear one of the future voices of jazz today.
