Meet Andres Balbuena, Founder and Owner of local Mexican restaurant Mamazul located at 1155 Broadway in NoMad.

“Flatiron & NoMad has such a unique energy — it’s a true intersection of creativity, history, and innovation,” says Andres. “We were drawn to the neighborhood because it reflects the diversity and dynamism that defines NYC and we had always been drawn to this area.”

Andres discusses his role as a business owner in the neighborhood, the positive impact of the transformation of Broadway, and how Mamazul is celebrating Día de Muertos this year.

Con Edison Work Notice: Please note that the following areas will be impacted by gas line upgrades each day. Expect lane closures, limited street parking, and generator noise throughout the project.

  • Now through November 28, Fifth Avenue between 20th and 21st Streets
  • Now through November 13, 22nd Street Between Fifth Avenue and Broadway

 

Pedestrian Ramp Upgrades:

  • The NYC Department of Design & Construction (DDC) will be working along Madison Avenue from 24th Street to 29th Street now through Friday, October 24th from 7 am – 4:30 pm. Street Closures:

  • West 20th Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue from 8 am – 6 pm Saturday and 9 am – 6 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.
  • East 25th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue from 5 am – 3 pm Saturday and Sunday to facilitate crane operation.
  • East 25th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South from midnight – 5 pm Saturday and Sunday through November 15 for roof derrick hoist.
  • East 26th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South from 6 am – 4 pm Saturday and Sunday through November 2 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Link NYC LinkLocal Program: LinkNYC has expanded its free ad offerings for local small businesses. Creative features that were previously only available through the paid LinkLocal Plus tier are now free for all LinkLocal users. LinkNYC has partnered with the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to host monthly webinars that help New York City-based organizations learn how to take advantage of the LinkLocal program.

Retail Storefront Survey: The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce invites local businesses to fill out their bi-annual survey to understand the wellbeing of Manhattan’s retail storefront small businesses.
