Sixth Avenue Improvement Project: The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) will implement a Sixth Avenue improvement project from 14th Street to 35th Street. The project will begin implementation in May and includes shortened pedestrian crossings, a widened bike lane, intersection traffic calming, and a bus-only lane from 31st to 35th Street. For additional information about this project, please visit NYC DOT’s website.

CB5 Parks Survey: Community Board 5 is looking for your feedback on how our local parks and plazas are used as well as how you feel about these public spaces. Please take a moment to fill out the survey.

Virtual Business Mentorship with Mastercard x NYC SBS: Mastercard is working with the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and WE NYC to provide operating NYC small businesses to apply for free, skills-based mentoring. Small business owners can receive expert advice in the areas of AI, cybersecurity, digital marketing, and digital payments. Register here.

  • Turkish Day Parade: Saturday, May 16th, 10 am – 5 pm, Madison Avenue from 24th to 38th Street
  • Nepal Day Parade: Sunday, May 17th, 11 am – 6 pm, Madison Avenue from 38th to 24th Street

 

Street Closures:

  • West 20th Street between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue will be closed from 7 am to 1 1am Saturday and Sunday through 6/1/26 for crane operations and is part of ongoing construction projects in the area.
  • East 26th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue will be closed from 5 am to 11:59 am Saturday and Sunday through 5/31/26 for building inspection from a boom truck.
  • East 30th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue will be closed from 7 am to 11 am Saturday and Sunday through 5/25/26 for crane operations and is part of ongoing construction projects in the area.

 

Con Edison Work Notices:

  • Now – Friday, May 15th from 7 am – 3:30 pm, Con Edison will perform ECS support work and continue hand care excavations at the intersection of East 29th Street and Fifth Avenue.
  • Now – July 31, Con Edison will be performing gas upgrade work on West 26th Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue on weekdays from 9 am – 4 pm.
