Salsa & Art Night this Thursday

Join us for our final Salsa & Art Night of the season this Thursday, July 20 from 4-7pm! Dance to live salsa music from the Benny Lopez Latin Jazz Ensemble on the Flatiron North Plaza.

While you’re there, experience “The Small Box,” an experiential public art activation presented by School of Visual Arts, Continuing Education (SVACE). Attendees can chalk their response to a question posed by SVA professor and artist Stephen Gaffney on The Small Box.

Quarter 2 Mobility Report

Neighborhood-wide foot traffic and 2019 recovery rates have stabilized since Q4 2022, averaging 105% for residential, 77% for visitors and shoppers, and 67% for employees.

Foot traffic along Broadway (25th – 31st) has outpaced 2019 levels.

DSNY Announcement: Food-Related Businesses Must Containerize Waste

The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is implementing a new rule to send rats packing. Starting August 1st, all food-related businesses in NYC must use rigid containers with secure lids when setting out trash for collection.

Per recent setout rules, businesses that place waste on the curb have two options:

  • Place waste at the curb one hour before closing or after 8:00 PM

 

DSNY is hosting a series of one-hour information sessions through August 28th. Please register for sessions in advance by clicking here.

National Night Out

Enjoy barbecue, fun, and music at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1 from 5 – 8 pm at Augustus St. Gaudens Playground (328 Second Avenue).

Street Closures

  • East 22nd Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, July 22nd and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday, July 23rd for construction.
  • West 28th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenue will be closed from 5 am to 1 pm Saturday and Sunday (July 22-23) and next Sunday, July 29th for building inspections.
