Dreamland Sirens: ‘The 30-Foot Surrealist Vision Taking Over Two of Manhattan’s Busiest Neighborhoods’

In partnership with NYC DOT Art, the art installation Dreamland Sirens by multi-media artist and filmmaker Charlotte Colbert is on view through May 27th. Located at the Flatiron South Plaza, the 30′ high steel sculpture curated by New Public is a part of Colbert’s first exhibition in New York City.

“By placing Charlotte Colbert’s larger-than-life artwork in this iconic Flatiron location, we’re creating an unmissable moment that makes New Yorkers and visitors pause, look up, and interact with art in the flow of daily life,” said James Mettham, President of the Flatiron NoMad Partnership.

After seeing Dreamland Sirens, visit the Meatpacking District to view Colbert’s Where Angels Live, a 30′ reflective steel tree adorned with votive-like charms at 14th Street Square.

Madison Square Park Conservancy: The Tempestry Project at Hotel Seville NoMad

Madison Square Park Conservancy (MSPC) is proud to present New York City’s first Tempestry Collection. Part of the nationwide Tempestry Project, a collaborative fiber arts initiative that turns climate data into striking visual and tactile works, this collection offers a unique, hands-on perspective on environmental change.

The collection of temperature tapestries will officially be on view in the lobby of the Hotel Seville NoMad (22 East 29th Street) starting this Saturday, April 4th, through the end of the month.

Created by a community of volunteer knitters, the project features sixteen hand-knitted panels or “tempestries,” each representing a year of climate data tied to significant years in Madison Square Park’s history from 1870 to the present.
