Portal: Where New York Meets Dublin

Flatiron NoMad Partnership in collaboration with with the New York City Department of Transportation’s Art Program (NYC DOT Art) and the Simons Foundation are thrilled to announce “The Portal,” a groundbreaking public technology sculpture that will form a visual bridge between New York City and Dublin, Ireland, launching next Wednesday, May 8th.

Portal in New York City will be installed on the Flatiron South Plaza, next to the Flatiron Building. In Dublin, Portal will be installed facing the capital’s main street, O’Connell Street and will capture both Dublin’s famous GPO building and the Spire together.

Meet True Barbers, a locally-owned, community-focused barbershop established in 2004. Located at 17 East 21st Street, True Barbers offers a range of grooming services in a welcoming environment.

“What True Barbers loves most about being in Flatiron & NoMad is the vibrant energy and diverse community,” says Eddie, Founder of True Barbers. “We thrive on the bustling streets and the unique mix of businesses and residents that make this neighborhood special.”

True Barbers is open Monday through Friday from 9 am – 7 pm and Saturday from 9 am – 4 pm.

Midtown South Mixed-Use Plan: The NYC Department of Planning invites the public to learn more about the MSMX Plan by speaking directly with city planners and using their digital engagement tools to help understand the strengths, challenges, and opportunities for growth in Midtown South.

Dining Out NYC: Eligible food establishments are now welcome to apply for New York City’s permanent outdoor dining program, Dining Out NYC. Learn more and apply here.

NYC Small Business Month Expo: The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) is celebrating NYC Small Business Month this May. Join the first-ever NYC Small Business Month Expo on Wednesday, May 29th from
9 am – 3 pm at Pier 36.

  • Five Boro Bike Tour: Sunday, May 5th from 7 am – 12 pm along Sixth Avenue through Flatiron & NoMad.

 

Street Closures:

  • East 26th Street between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue will be closed from 7 am to 1 pm Saturday and Sunday through May 12th for building inspection from boom truck.

 

ConEdison Work Notice:

  • ConEdison will be doing gas upgrade work on Fifth Avenue between 26th and 27th Streets on Saturdays from 8 am – 6 pm and Sundays from 9 am – 6 pm through August 30th.
